CAVALCADES
IN VILLAVICENCIO
La
Reserva Natural Villavicencio, a 50
kilómetros al norte de la Ciudad de Mendoza, se ubica en el
departamento de Las Heras y se inauguró en año 2001. Integra
la un área que integra la Red de Areas Naturales protegidas
de Mendoza y es el único espacio en la provincia donde se
observa el ecosistema de la Puna. Allí se cuida y protege una
gran variedad de flora (algarrobo blanco, chañar) y fauna
(guanacos, pumas, zorros, cóndores, águilas moras y
choiques, entre otros animales), así como lugares históricos
y de características arqueológicas. Tiene una superficie de
aproximadamente 70.000 hectáreas y se extiende por la
Precordillera, entre los 900 y 3200 metros sobre el nivel del
mar, que es el punto más alto, en la Cruz de Paramillos, con
vistas espectaculares de la Cordillera de los Andes.

PROGRAM
Day 1 - Mendoza / Villavicencio / Agua de las
Mañeras
Reception in Mendoza city and transfer
to Puesto Santa Clara, in the area of Villavicencio, 60 km
from the city. While preparing for departure, explanations
will be given concerning the schedule and proposed
activities.
We begin a four hour cavalcade, stop for a quick lunch and
continue until we reach “Agua de las Mañeras” where we set
up camp. After resting we will enjoy an “asado” (barbecue)
for dinner. The night is spent in tents.
Day 2 – Villavicencio / Paramillos
After breakfast we saddle our horses and start riding. We
ascend the Mountains of Villavicencio, crossing the
foot-hills towards Paramillos, from where we will appreciate
the high summits of the Andes Mountain Range, specially the
peaks of Tambillos and Aconcagua which stand out.
Arrival at “Paramillos”. The private vehicle will take us
down to the Valley of Uspallata where we will
enjoy a meal of smoked ham sandwiches to close our
days in the mountain.
Transfer to Mendoza city.

PROGRAM
Day 1

Mendoza/Villavicencio/Agua de las Mañeras

an old mining camp, exploited by the Jesuits, now a ghost
town, and the tomb of the Gaucho Cubillos. A
private vehicle will take us down to the Valley of Uspallata
where we will
enjoy a meal of smoked ham sandwiches to close our days in
the mountain.
Transfer to Mendoza city.

and start our way back to Santa Clara. An open-air lunch
awaits us to close our four day cavalcade in the mountains.
Transfer to Mendoza city.
